The photo that works best

Shoot in soft, indirect light — a window on an overcast day is ideal. Direct sun on a white coat blows out every bit of texture at once.
Use a mid-tone or darker background. Against a white wall a maltipoo loses their outline completely.
Let the photo run slightly dark rather than bright. Detail can be brought back up from a slightly dark photo; a blown-out white has nothing left in it to recover.
