The photo that works best

Pick the photo from the coat you want to keep. Goldendoodles clear as they age, so the apricot puppy and the cream adult are both real — you are choosing which one the portrait remembers.
Get light on the eyes. Under a full set of furnishings the eyes disappear first, and they are what makes the portrait look back at you.
Photograph them at eye level rather than from above. From standing height a curly coat reads as one shapeless mass.
